Cuando vamos a elegir o comprar una esterilla de Yoga, queremos optar por una opción de calidad, duradera y sobre todo funcional, que satisfaga nuestras necesidades y complemente nuestra practica.
Después de todo, la esterilla de Yoga se convierte en algo así como un amigo inanimado, o al menos, en un objeto de "apoyo" y de sosiego, que nos "soportará" nada más y nada menos que durante nuestra practica de Yoga.
Para otros es una especie de templo (guardando las distancias claro!) en donde nos recogemos a contactar con una parte más íntima o elevada de nosotros mismos... Entonces, hay que elegir bien.
Lo primero que tendremos que determinar es qué tipo de Yoga vamos a realizar. Si lo que queremos es practicar un yoga suave o meditativo que NO incluya Posturas de Pie, perro boca abajo (Adho Muka Svanasana) u otro tipo de postura en la que necesitemos mantener las extremidades firmes, enraizadas y detenidas sobre la esterilla, entonces cualquiera es válida, inclusive un tapete, una toalla, una alfombra o una esterilla ecológica, o de lana, siempre y cuando estén limpias.
Pero si por el contrario estamos seguros de que queremos incluir en nuestra práctica Posturas de Pie, Posturas de Brazos, Posturas de Equilibrio, el perro boca abajo o cualquier otra postura en la que necesitemos ir en contra de la fuerza de gravedad entonces es mejor invertir en una esterilla REALMENTE antideslizante. Y cuando digo "realmente" me refiero a que hay muchas marcas deportivas conocidas en el mercado que venden sus propias esterillas y estas parecen antideslizantes, pero realmente no lo son.
Hay muchas opciones y siempre es mejor comprar productos a marcas especializadas en Yoga y no a marcas más genéricas.
Ya para terminar, es bueno saber que las esterillas antideslizantes de buena calidad pueden durar mucho y pueden ser lavadas en la lavadora pero lamentablemente no suelen ser ecológicas. Así que cuando desees cambiarla por otra nueva asegúrate de reciclarla bien y de que no acabe en la naturaleza o en el mar.

HOW TO CHOOSE A YOGA MAT
When we are going to choose or buy a Yoga mat, we want to opt for a quality, durable and, above all, functional option that meets our needs and complements our practice.
After all, the Yoga mat becomes something like an inanimate friend, or at least, an object of "support" and calm, which will "support" us nothing more and nothing less than during our Yoga practice.
For others it is a kind of temple (keeping our distance of course!) where we meet to contact a more intimate or elevated part of ourselves... So, we have to choose well.
The first thing we will have to determine is what type of Yoga we are going to do. If what we want is to practice a gentle or meditative yoga that does NOT include Standing Postures, Downward Facing Dog (Adho Muka Svanasana) or another type of posture in which we need to keep the limbs firm, rooted and stopped on the mat, then any is valid, including a rug, a towel, a rug or an ecological mat, or made of wool, as long as they are clean.
But if, on the other hand, we are sure that we want to include Standing Postures, Arm Postures, Balance Postures, downward facing dog or any other posture in which we need to go against the force of gravity in our practice, then it is better to invest on a REALLY non-slip mat. And when I say "really" I mean that there are many well-known sports brands on the market that sell their own mats and these seem to be non-slip, but they really are not.
There are many options and it is always better to buy products from specialized Yoga brands and not from more generic brands.
Finally, it is good to know that good quality non-slip mats can last a long time and can be washed in the washing machine but unfortunately they are not usually ecological. So when you want to change it for a new one, make sure you recycle it well and that it does not end up in nature or in the sea.
